At the Wits End Saloon outside Baltimore, Bartender Jamie is doing some great stuff with their main staple- Bourbon.
You can order this concoction with almost any Bourbon on the market- they have an incredible selection- but Jamie will steer you to Bulleit, Whistle Pig or Campfire.
1 crisp slice of Bacon as garnish
2 oz Bourbon
1 fig muddled or fig puree
.25 oz Punt e Mes (or sweet vermouth)
2-3 drops of Angostura Bitters
Add all ingredients to a mixing glass and shake. Strain over crushed ice. Garnish with crushed Sugar (sure add bacon!) and an Orange Twist (Pig Tail).
